1. A new website is underway, rendering our old site nice and obsolete. Hence, you've been redirected to our blog! We look forward to the new site, but this is fun in the meantime.
2. BOONVILLE - images by photographer Timothy Briner from six different towns named Boonville - is making progress towards the finish line, with the goals of a BOONVILLE book and upcoming show in sight. Visit www.timothybriner.com to see select images from the project.
3. BIO REVOLUTIONS - a photo/audio documentary about the alternative fuel movement by photographers Matt Stacey and Heami Lee - is heading into the editing phase. 1% of all donations to support BIO REVOLUTIONS have been sent to American Forests, where $1.00 pays for the planting of a tree. To date, BIO REVOLUTIONS is responsible for 123 new trees.
4. CARNIVORA - a solo show featuring the mixed-media art of Jason Covert and inspired by the discovery of the ancient tablets of Carnivora in Greenland - has just entered early production and is slated for a spring 2010 opening.
5. Melanie Adelman and Ellie Dvorkin - featured Cannery Works theatre artists with their show "MEL & EL: THIS SHOW RHYMES" - are currently working under the auspices of Ars Nova to develop a new show - visit www.melandel.com for all the latest. Cannery Works is proud to have been the original producer and launching pad for Mel & El back in 2007.
Thank you to all the many supporters far and wide who contributed generously during our recent year-end/year-beginning fundraising drive. Thanks to your contributions, Cannery Works is able to continue to provide support for emerging artists as they tackle challenging projects.
You can support Cannery Works with an online tax-deductible contribution - or you can always mail a check or money order to Cannery Works, 484 West 43rd Street Suite 31L, New York, NY, 10036. For general fund contributions of $100.00 or more, we'll gladly send you a gift: an autographed copy of "ART & FEAR" - by David Bayles and Ted Orland, a book that brilliantly distills the artistic process and is relevant to so much of what Cannery Works is all about.
To support an individual project, you may use the same donation procedure and simply write the project name in the memo. Please note that different gift incentives for contributions to individual projects may apply. As always, Cannery Works contributes 1 % of every donation to charitable causes like The Food Bank For New York City, where $1.00 pays for five meals.
Thanks for checking in and have a great day - if you'd like to be on our physical or email mailing lists, please send us an email.
With best wishes for peace and good art from
